Cora L. Newton departed this natural life on March 29, 2017 surrounded by all her children who she loved dearly.  She was born in Talbotton, GA on November 6, 1944 to the late Elsie Callair and the Late Louis Holt.  She went on to reside in Easton, Pennsylvania. Cora graduated from Easton Area High School in 1962.   She worked as an administrative assistant and an educator. She married in 1963.  Along with her original pastor, the late Bishop Albert Dotson, and a few others, Cora was one of the original members of Holy Bethel Pentecostal Church where she was baptized in “Jesus” name in 1967.  Soon after she was filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. Cora was instrumental in drawing many souls to Christ, some who have remained members of Holy Bethel to this present day.  She truly enjoyed going to church, reading her bible, praising the Lord, and raising her children. She was a faithful servant of God who loved the Lord with all her heart.  Cora had a heart of Gold and a smile that would light up a whole room. She was very caring, loving, and understanding. She was one to always see the good in people; and she never hesitated to assist people in need. Cora also had a special “unconditional love” for all her children. God was always first, but her children were the center of her life.  When she loved and cared for her children and grandchildren, she did so whole-heartedly.

Cora leaves to cherish her memory five children: Steven Newton and wife Linda of Center Valley, PA; Gregory Newton, Sr. and Fiancé Jeanette Torres of Fleetwood, PA; Tammy Hill of Whitehall, PA; Chanda Newton of Bethlehem, PA; and Lekiesha Newton-Gonzalez and husband Carlos of Allentown, PA; She went on to take guardianship of her nephew/Godson Jason Callair of Easton, PA after the sudden passing of her sister; and Goddaughter Melissa Dorrah of Atlanta, GA. Siblings: Cardell Benjamin of Whisett, NC; Lawrence Callair and wife Sadie of Augusta, GA; Susan Callair and husband Raymond Head of Atlanta GA; Sammie Holt, Lark Holt, Beatricia Johnson, Jimmie Holt and wife Joann, Lillie Graham, Dorothy Floyd and husband James  all of Talbotton, GA; Arthur Holt of Atlanta, GA; Eddie Holt and  wife Stephanie  of Manchester, GA; and Evangelist Michelle Miller of NY, her most cherished, lifelong best friend of whom they considered each other sisters.

She had 8 grandchildren: Steven Newton, Jr., Geoffrey Hall, Shanta’ Newton, Shakieah Fry, Joshua Newton, Tyrick Ruch, Colby Newton, and Jerrion Newton; 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews

Cora was preceded in death by her mother and father;  also two sisters: Karnita Callair and Queen Callair; and one grandson: Gregory S. Newton, Jr.

Funeral Services will take place on Thursday at 11AM in Holy Bethel Pentecostal Church 1224 E. 4th Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015.  Viewings will take place in the church Wednesday evening from 6-8PM and Thursday morning 10-11AM.  Interment will follow services in Cedar Hill Memorial Park.
