Silas S. Catwell, Sr.

Silas Sistone Catwell, Sr. was born on January 4, 1937, in Bushy Park in the Parish of St Philip, on the island of Barbados, West Indies, the son of Charles and Delphine Catwell of Bushy Park.  Silas was the youngest of nine children – Winfield Roy, Darryl, Charles, Dennis, Oswald Nevitt, Gwedlyn Mazie, Viola, and Arnetta. Silas attended school at St. Philip Boys School. Upon the death of his mother, he moved to St. George to live with his older sister Mazie.  Silas married in 1958, from this union produced four children David, Harriett, Sherrol and Searson.

Silas met Marlene Walcott in December of 1967, and later moved to the United States in 1968. They were married in 1969 and from this union one son Silas, Jr. Silas and Marlene were married for 50 years.  Silas was a carpenter by trade, and a mason. He called himself “Mr. Fix It Right”. His slogan was “No job was to big or to small”.  

Silas leaves to mourn his wife Marlene, eight of ten children Harriett, Carol, David C., Ainsley (Phil), Winslow, David W., Searson, and Silas, Jr. He was preceded in death by Anthony and Sherrol. Nieces Sonia, Portia, Gladwyn, Audrie, Heather, Vanice, Norma. Nephews Winfield, Kevin, Greg, Trevor, Nigel, Carl, Judes, Asteal, Kurt, Leyland, and Hensley (deceased). Daughter-In Law’s Ameryl Walcott, Marlene Walcott, Diane James, Linda Catwell, and Shelly Catwell. Son-In Law Bruce Blackman. Grandchildren Nicole, Kemani, Justin, Kerel, Gabriel (Gabby), John, Shareifa, Kayla, Kelly, Ashley, Madison, Christopher, Matthew, Anthony, Andre, Malcolm, Donovan, Theodore, Bernard, Jr., Gabriel, Brianna, Sorehya, Searson, Jr., Rhea, Kaliyah, Alicia, Ella, Savanna and Kristina. “Numerous” great grandchildren, family and friends.   Silas also leaves behind his only living sibling Winfield Roy Catwell

Silas Sistone Catwell entered into the presence of the Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Silas was a faithful and devote Christian to our Lord Jesus Christ. He did not just know Jesus but he maintained a personal relationship to the very end.

Funeral Services will take place on Saturday February 1,2020 at 2:30PM in Restoration Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church-Main Campus 41 S. Carlisle Street, Allentown, PA 18109.  Viewing beings at 1PM. 

Interment will take place in St. Philip Parish Church Cemetery. St. Philip, Barbados.
