Sesrea Miller In Our Care

Reflection of Life

Sesrea Miller Jr. was born on January 8, 1930 to Magdalene Miller and Sesrea Miller Sr. in Albany, Georgia.  During the late 1940’s,  Sesrea eagerly moved to New Jersey to build a better life for himself and his family.  Shortly after his arrival, he saved enough money to also allow his mother, two nieces and one nephew to relocate to New Jersey.

On December 8, 1951,  Sesrea married the love of his life Dorothy and they were joined in a loving union for 59 years until Dorothy departed this life.  Together, they raised six children in Orange, New Jersey and their family expanded to include eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Sesrea adored his family and worked diligently to provide for them.  From a young age, Sesrea was an entrepreneur and owned rental properties and numerous businesses, including a billiards parlor, a home heating oil delivery service, and an Exxon gas station.  He also worked for the American Association of Retired Persons.

In Sesrea’s spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and “games of chance.”  He was an exceptionally skilled pool player and particularly relished beating many of his family members repeatedly and mercilessly during pool matches, checkers, and various board games. He loved gardening which included growing plants, flowers and vegetables.  Sesrea also loved cooking and baking.  His long list of special dishes included banana pudding, sweet potato pie, and “hog head cheese.”  In addition, Sesrea also enjoyed watching his various television shows, movies and live boxing events.

In 1998,  Sesrea and his wife Dorothy moved to Easton, Pennsylvania.  There, they enjoyed retirement and Sesrea gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized surrounded by his family and friends.  Sesrea and Dorothy attended Greater Shiloh Church and participated in the nursing home ministry.  After Sesrea’s health declined, he found solace in listening to various Christian television ministries.

Following Dorothy’s death, Sesrea lived at Shiloh Manor Senior Facility where he enjoyed interacting and cooking for residents for many years.

On July 10, 2020, Sesrea departed this earthly life and was reunited with his wife and life partner Dorothy.  He will be remembered and cherished by his children Sheila Conway, Vernesha Dorsey, Lisa Simmons (Russell Simmons), Nora Miller, and Norman Miller (Doreen Miller (Bunny); grandchildren, Kimberly Conway, Stephen Conway Jr. (Ebonie Corporal-Conway), Sharron Conway, Sesrea Miller IV (Josh), Mylisa Shipanga (Landuleni Shipanga), Danielle Simmons, Sasha Simmons, Nicole Miller, Amber Miller, Samuel Dorsey, and Faith Dorsey; great-grandchildren Lamar Fennell, Stephen Conway III, Brielle Conway, Benjamin Shipanga, Russell Shipanga, and Kadence A’mor Miller; a sister Clara Maye; and a host of beloved family and friends.  Sesrea was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy; son, Sesrea Miller III (Bubble); mother Magdalene and father Sesrea; brother Wallace Miller, Jr.; and sisters Elizabeth Littlejohn and Opelia Wesley.
