Ronnie Harris, was born on January 19, 1959, in Portsmouth, Virginia, and passed away on September 14, 2024, at the age of 65. He was the beloved husband of the late JeNette Jones Harris and a proud father to Amiracle Harris, Kiyaana Cox Jones (James L Jones Jr.), Jasmine Williams, Joshua Burton, Anquan Williams, and Andrew Williams. Ronnie cherished his role as a grandfather to a host of grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Russell Harris and Arthur Harris, and is survived by his siblings, Marvin (Rhoda) Harris, Erksin (Claudia) Harris, Mordecai Harris, Ella (Moses) Webb, and Madeline Harris Reynolds, along with a multitude of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A Portsmouth native, Ronnie attended Craddock High School and spent two years at Western Tidewater Community College. He dedicated his career to various jobs, including working at the Norfolk Shipyard and most recently at To & Fro Transportation. Known for his culinary skills, he was the reigning champion of sweet potato pie making and a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. His kitchen was often filled with laughter, music, and the tantalizing aroma of his famous dishes.
Ronnie’s infectious spirit and humor made every gathering a celebration. He had a knack for turning any conversation into a memorable moment, often starting a lecture with, “I don’t mean no harm but…” and finishing his reflections with “I’ll keep on keeping on.” Whether dancing to the smooth tunes of Frankie Beverly and Maze or cracking jokes that had everyone in stitches, he knew how to light up a room. His love for juice was legendary, and he could often be found enjoying an ice cold BIG-GULP while cheering for his favorite team.
Ronnie often said that his greatest achievement was being Amiracle's father, a title he wore proudly. His legacy of practicality, kindness, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He was not only a devoted family man but also a cherished friend to many, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. A devoted member of Noble Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA, he later found his spiritual home at Greater Shiloh Church in Easton, PA, where his faith was a guiding light throughout his life.
Ronnie Harris will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his laughter, love, and the sweet potato pies that brought us all together. As we gather to celebrate his life, let us remember the joy he spread and the memories we created with him. Rest easy, Ronnie— as your spirit will continue to dance through our hearts!
Services will take place at 10:30 on Saturday September 28th at the Greater Shiloh Church, 403 Pastor Fred Davis St. Easton PA 18042. The family will greet visitors from 10 am until the time of service.
