Rev. David Rodriguez

Rev. David Rodriguez, 71, of Allentown, PA went home to his Great Heavenly Father on June 30, 2023 at Saint Luke's University Hospital - Bethlehem. David was born on December 1, 1951 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to the late Luis Rodriguez and Maria Altagracia Lucret and was the 7th out of 9 children, with 2 sisters and 6 brothers. He graduated from Eugenio Maria de Hostos High School in Puerto Rico and later graduated from seminary school in Puerto Rico.

As a young boy in Puerto Rico, David was a shoe shiner. He came to the Bronx, NY in his late teens working his way up the ladder at Montefiore Hospital as a dishwasher, fry cook, orderly, and ultimately, an ophthalmology technician, working there for over 35 years until his retirement. His hobbies as a young man included DJing at a local radio station. David was also a DJ at hospital/other music events as a young man. He enjoyed cooking (particularly BBQ), playing dominoes, and loved everything in any shade of brown.

David was founder and pastor of Vision Misionera Inc., LLC, and his ministry was influenced by the late Dr. Frederick K.C. Price, his friend and mentor. David was a staple in his community. He ministered to men in prison, fed the homeless, participated in local health fairs, helped men and women obtain GEDs, and was a founding member of the Pastor Association of Allentown. He also offered spiritual guidance to those struggling with drug and alcohol abuse. Despite his impact on the community, he remained a humble man who enjoyed black cherry shakes from Rita's, especially on Wednesdays. He is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Irma I. Rodriguez, 5 children (Ada, Lillian, David Jr., Joel, and Amorie), 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Homegoing Services will take place on Friday July 7, 2023 at 12PM in Restoration Temple 1101 W. Tilghman St. Allentown, PA Viewings will be held in the church Thursday July 6, 2023 from 6-9PM and Friday 10AM-12noon.  Interment will follow services in Highland Memorial Park-Allentown.
