Minister Erelene Marie McQuay was born on March 23, 1939 to the late Ernestine Hendricks (nee Lewis) and Norman Stanley Hendricks, Sr., in Binghamton, NY. On April 28, 2025, Minister McQuay surrendered her Spirit to her Heavenly Father and ended her journey here on earth. Minister McQuay was educated in the Binghamton, New York school system. She received Christ at an early age. This acknowledgement eventually led her to seek further understanding of the Lord and to the ministry. When the Minister became older, her family moved to Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. It was there where she met Morris King McQuay. They feel in love and soon married. Minister McQuay was a faithful and loyal member of the Good Shepherd Church of Charity for over 60 years. Under the tutelage of Reverend Annie Mildred Sharpton, Erelene became an Ordained Minister delivering spiritual services on-site, and via telephone ministry. Minister McQuay is preceded in death by her parents and step fathers, Clarence Washington and Earl Wylie; daughter Kathryn McQuay; son Stewart McQuay; sister Helen Justice; brothers Stewart Hendricks, Norman Hendricks and Clarence Washington; grandsons Morris Ricardo McQuay, Jr. and Raheem Greene; sister-in-law Scottie Rea Hendricks; great grandchildren Nizzear and Shaniyah Rodriguez and great-great granddaughter Milliani Rodriguez. Minister McQuay leaves to cherish her memories ex husband Maurice King McQuay; sisters Bernadette Jones, Crystal Banks and Sherrie Washington; brother George Washington; sons Morris Ricardo McQuay, Sr. (Josie), Surgal Allen McQuay and Kevin Darryl McQuay; daughters Beverly Jean Price (Larry, Sr.), Ernestine Russell (Jerome), Erelene “Sugar” McCormick (Henry, Jr.), Norma Smith (Thamar); and a host of grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and her Good Shepherd Church of Charity Family.
Funeral Services will take on Monday at 11AM in the Good Shepherd Church of Charity 125 Sam Smith Drive Kunkletown, PA. Viewing begins at 9AM in the Church. Interment will follow services in the church cemetery.
