With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Margarita Altagracia Cabrera Guerra, lovingly known as “Gogo” and “Margot,” who passed away peacefully on the morning of May 19, 2026, at the age of 82.

Born on January 28, 1944, Margarita lived a life defined by resilience, humor, love, and devotion to her family. Her passing carries a deeply meaningful connection, as she departed this life on the first anniversary of the passing of her beloved twin sister, a bond rooted in a lifetime of love, memories, and companionship.

In early January 2026, just weeks before her birthday, Margarita received an unexpected diagnosis of stage 4 cancer after seeking medical attention for symptoms initially believed to be related to low blood pressure. Despite the difficult news, she continued facing each day with remarkable strength, optimism, and courage, surrounded by the love and care of her family.

Before later making her home in the United States, Margarita was deeply loved in her community in the Dominican Republic. In her younger years, she became especially well known among the neighborhood children, who would gather outside her home whenever she came out, drawn to her loving, nurturing, and welcoming spirit. Making others feel cared for came naturally to her and remained one of the defining qualities of her life.

Margarita was also known for her sharp wit and playful personality. She loved teasing others, especially anyone who seemed a little too confident, always in a humorous and affectionate way that brought laughter to those around her. Even in her later years, her quick remarks and spirited sense of humor remained unforgettable to family and friends alike.

As a single mother of four, Margarita carried the weight of raising her family with strength, sacrifice, and unconditional love. To her grandchildren, she was a source of comfort and joy, always eager to spoil them with sweets, snacks, toys, and small gestures that made them feel deeply loved and special.

For nearly twenty years, Margarita lived in Allentown, Pennsylvania, at Little Lehigh Manor, where she built friendships, shared laughter, and remained close to one of her sisters who also lived there. It became more than a residence. It became home.

During her final weeks, her family stood closely by her side, caring for her with the same love and devotion that she had spent a lifetime giving to others. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her memory lives on through the laughter she created, the love she shared so freely, and the generations of family whose lives were shaped by her warmth and strength.

The family finds peace in knowing that she is no longer suffering and can finally rest.

Con profunda tristeza y mucho amor, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Margarita Altagracia Cabrera Guerra, cariñosamente conocida como “Gogo” y “Margot”, quien partió en paz la mañana del 19 de mayo de 2026 a la edad de 82 años.

Nacida el 28 de enero de 1944, Margarita vivió una vida marcada por la fortaleza, el humor, el amor y la dedicación a su familia. Su partida tiene un significado profundamente especial, ya que ocurrió en el primer aniversario del fallecimiento de su querida hermana gemela, un vínculo construido a través de toda una vida de amor, recuerdos y compañía.

A principios de enero de 2026, pocas semanas antes de cumplir años, Margarita recibió inesperadamente un diagnóstico de cáncer en etapa 4 luego de buscar atención médica por síntomas que inicialmente parecían relacionados con presión baja. A pesar de la difícil noticia, continuó enfrentando cada día con una fortaleza, optimismo y valentía admirables, rodeada del amor y cuidado de su familia.

Antes de establecerse en los Estados Unidos, Margarita era muy querida en su comunidad en la República Dominicana. En sus años más jóvenes, era especialmente conocida entre los niños del vecindario, quienes se reunían frente a su casa cada vez que ella salía, atraídos por su espíritu cariñoso, protector y acogedor. Hacer sentir amados y cuidados a los demás era algo natural para ella y siguió siendo una de las cualidades que más la definieron durante toda su vida.

Margarita también era conocida por su ingenio y su personalidad juguetona. Le encantaba relajar y bromear con los demás, especialmente con quienes parecían demasiado confiados, siempre de una manera cariñosa y divertida que hacía reír a todos a su alrededor. Incluso en sus últimos años, sus comentarios rápidos y su sentido del humor permanecieron inolvidables para familiares y amigos.

Como madre soltera de cuatro hijos, Margarita llevó sobre sus hombros la responsabilidad de sacar adelante a su familia con fuerza, sacrificio y amor incondicional. Para sus nietos, fue una fuente de alegría y ternura, siempre buscando consentirlos con dulces, meriendas, juguetes y pequeños detalles que los hacían sentirse profundamente amados y especiales.

Durante casi veinte años, Margarita vivió en Little Lehigh Manor en Allentown, donde construyó amistades, compartió innumerables momentos de alegría y permaneció cerca de una de sus hermanas, quien también vivía allí. Más que un lugar donde vivir, se convirtió en su hogar.

Durante sus últimas semanas, su familia permaneció a su lado, cuidándola con el mismo amor y dedicación que ella entregó durante toda su vida a los demás. Aunque su ausencia deja un vacío inmenso, su memoria seguirá viva en las risas que provocó, en el amor que compartió tan libremente y en las generaciones de familiares cuyas vidas fueron marcadas por su calidez y fortaleza.

La familia encuentra consuelo en saber que ya no está sufriendo y que finalmente puede descansar en paz.

Funeral Services will take place on Friday at 1PM in the Funeral Home.  Viewings will be held in the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8PM and Friday from 11AM-1PM.  Interment will follow services in Greenwood Cemetery.
