John Nawarynski, Jr. In Our Care

John Nawarynski Jr., 72, of Allentown, passed away on April 20, 2026. John was a man of deep faith whose passion and down-to-earth personality allowed him to connect with people wherever he went—from the teller line at the bank to his favorite hot dog joint. He had a gift for seeing the best in others and while boundaries and eloquence weren’t his strong suit, his intent was always firmly rooted in good.

He was married for 36 years to the love of his life, Shelley, for whom his love could be described as nothing less than sacrificial. Together, they built a life rooted in faith and family, filled with laughter, lively banter, and the kind of familiar back-and-forth that only deep love can sustain. Even in their early years, they shared the easy rhythm of a long-married couple. Through it all, they chose each other every day. Their love was steadfast, enduring, and full of life.

John was a tireless entrepreneur with a passion for real estate and a drive that carried him through many business ventures throughout his life. No matter how busy he was, he always made time for what mattered most—his family. The pride he carried for his son—his namesake—was evident when he recounted stories of their times together. When others referred to his “stepdaughters,” he would gently but firmly correct them: “They’re my daughters.” To him, family was never defined by anything other than love.

Even as his children grew into adulthood, John never stopped being “classic dad,” offering his guidance, wisdom, and the occasional lecture—and always rooted in love. He was a devoted grandfather who never missed a practice or a game, always showing up with pride and passion.

John found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He took pride in his home, especially in keeping his lawn perfectly mowed and his backyard looking its best. He had a lifelong love for local favorites like Yocco’s hot dogs and Zandy’s steak sandwiches, and he never turned down a free T-shirt or meal. He was known for always having something to give—whether it was his time, a helping hand, advice, or the undepletable stash of Peeps and Mike & Ike’s he had to share.

John’s faith was central to who he was. He also loved music. He loved singing. He loved Bobby Vinton and Elvis Presley. He also carried a deep pride in his Polish heritage, which remained an important part of his identity throughout his life. Even in his passing, John chose to give to others. Through his decision to be an organ and tissue donor with Gift of Life, he will go on to help dozens of people in need, including those who are blind or recovering from severe burn injuries—a final act of generosity that reflects how he lived every day.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Shelley; his son, John; and his daughters, Lisa and Patrice, along with his cherished grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

John moved through life with a quiet humility, never fully seeing the depth of the mark he left on those around him. In countless small, unassuming ways, he shaped lives, lifted spirits, and offered kindness that will not be forgotten. Though he may not have realized it, his presence created ripples of goodness that will continue long beyond his time with us. The measure of his life is found not only in what he did, but in how deeply he was felt by those fortunate enough to know him.
