Deaconess Corine Bundick was born November 11, 1933 in Cheriton, Virginia to the late Gladys and Thomas Smaw. She grew up in a loving home with her 9 siblings where she attended school in Northampton County Virginia. In 1950, Corine had her daughter Joyce who she adored and raised in the family home where she worked as a jack leg hairdresser and also at Wesber Factory.
In the 1960’s Corine relocated to Mount Vernon, NY and was employed at Mount Vernon Hospital as a Nurse Assistant preparing women for child birth. Corine loved children and working in the community.
On November 18, 1974 Corine was joined in matrimony to the love her life George Bundick where they resided in Portchester, NY. Corine and George Worshiped at Mount Zion Baptist Church. It was there where she became a Deaconess and sang on the choir. Corine and George loved the Lord. They enjoyed worshiping, sharing the word of God and participating in events with their church community. Later, Corine also worked at Caldors Department store for many years until retirement. In 2002, Corine and her family relocated to East Stroudsburg Pennsylvania. It was here she made a home for her family. Corine and George joined the Christian and Missionary Alliance church of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania where she continued her acts of service to the Lord . Corine enjoyed traveling, playing slots at the casino, getting her nails done, telling jokes, listening and singing gospel music, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, going to their school events, entertaining and fellowshiping with family and friends.
Corine met no strangers. She was definitely a peoples person. Anyone who knew Corine knew she loved the lord and her church family and friends. Corine’s doors were always open. If you needed a meal to eat, a place to stay or just a listening ear, you were always welcome to Corine’s home. She had a heart of gold. Her nickname was Sweetning and she definitely lived up to her name. However, to her grandchildren and great grandchildren she was Nana. Nana took such great care of her great grandchildren when they were young and when they got older and Nana's dementia got worse they were able to express their love and care for her in return. Nana has touched so many lives and will be deeply missed and forever in our Hearts.
