Alexander John Ball 7/31/96 – 4/16/26
We are devastated to announce the passing of our beautiful son, Alexander John Ball.
Alex was often misunderstood, but he was kind and smart and generous. He was
inquisitive and creative. From the time he was young it was clear that his mind was
more advanced than most. He could build intricate structures with Legos that were
symmetrical and seemed like an architect must have planned them. He loved science,
like his Pop Pop and created his own experiments, and would quickly lose me as he
tried to explain some complex theory about the universe or some equally advanced
topic.
Alex’s generosity knew no bounds. Even when Alex was struggling, he would look for
ways to help others. When he got food from the food pantry, he would take things he
didn’t like so he could share it with others. Imagine having nothing and still thinking
about how to help those around you. He loved his time working with veterans and
others with PTSD. His dream was to become a therapist and help others overcome their
demons. I wish he could have lived to make that dream come true.
Alex loved nature. He loved to go hiking in the woods and mountains. He would often
sleep outside on the deck just to be under the sky and breathing fresh air. He could tell
you about whatever meteor shower or other celestial event was occurring. Even as a
child, he had lizards, frogs, turtles, hamsters, cats, and a dog. When the cat would bring
it’s gifts from hunting he would see if it was still alive and he could try to nurse it back to
health. He really wanted a pet chipmunk or squirrel.
Alex had such a pure, kind heart. If only he could have mended his own heart and mind
and walked an easier path. Alex will be missed by his family, parents, John and Bonnie
Ball, siblings, Marcus, Erin, and Jake Ball, and the love of his life, Julie. His extended
family and close friends will all cherish their memories of the sweet young man with the
biggest smile. May he finally be at peace.
