Bertrana Marie Jones-White aka Cookie, 59, of Tobyhanna, PA departed this earthly life on July 24, 2018 at her home. Born on March 20, 1959 in Portsmouth, VA she was the daughter of Mack McQuillia and Barbara Jones. She was the loving wife of Billy White whom she will now reunite with, just in time for their 27th wedding anniversary this August.
Possessing a strong Christian faith, Bertrana earned her B.A. in social work from Long Island University in NY. She was an extremely vocal and driven woman with a beautiful soul and desire to help others. It was for this reason that she cared for special needs teenagers and young adults. After retiring from providing care to her special needs clients, she later formed friendships and alliances through bingo, church and several organizations which included The Greater Pocono Section, National Council of Negro Women Inc. as well as Monroe County's National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Sporting her long, thinly coiled locks, Bertrana acquired a flair for fashion, loving her hats and coordinating shoes and handbags which also led her to jewelry design.
Carrying on her zest for life she leaves: her parents; daughter Telisha White; grandchildren Adonis and Rose; siblings Richard, Laverne, Mary and Troy Jones; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will take place on Thursday at 11AM in Jesus The Christ Church 2060 Tanite Road, Stroudsburg, PA Viewing begins at 10AM. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Prospect Cemetery-East Stroudsburg.
