April 3, 1952 ~ April 14, 2017 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Randy Shepherd, retired Animal Control Officer of Irving, TX was dispatched to his final call on April 14, 2017, at the age of 65, in Easton‚ PA.

Randy is survived by his wife, Linda, their two grown son's, Jeremy and Luke, three grandchildren, Jordan, Cheyenne and Kyla;  sister, Kay. Randy was in the Coast Guard and worked at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ where he met his wife of over 44 years.

Randy grew up along the Delaware River in Phillipsburg, NJ where he bad many adventures of riding the trains, climbing the railroad bridge and falling 0ff, which shook him up pretty badly. He just had to see where that beautiful pigeon went. He loved to swim in the river, watch the water go by and fish there.

Randy made his home in Irving, Texas where he was a city animal control officer for twenty-two years and recently moved to Easton, PA.

To his coworkers, Randy was the source of many a good-natured pranks. He loved animals and people, and he was pretty good at dealing with both. Randy accomplished many things, as well as being honored by the FBI for appreciation of exceptional service in the public interest. Randy spoke at many engagements, television appearances and has been in the newspapers quite a few times. Randy spent his career enforcing the city's laws regarding animals and their owners. He loved his job, but through it, he also witnessed much suffering, and many abused, neglected animals, which he was instrumental in prosecuting cruelty charges. Randy dealt with so many different kinds of animals, reptiles and birds which are too numerous to mention, and police interventions where he was there to help when called on. Randy had a gift when it came to dealing with aggressive animals and it was not unusual to see a very aggressive dog, all tongue and wagging tail just sitting next to him in the front seat of his truck just enjoying the ride. They just loved him!

Per his request, Randy will be cremated privately, no service has been planned at this time. Please make donations in his memory to your local animal shelter.
