It has been so hard for me to open this page to offer my condolences on my dear, sweet sister Joan. She suffered so many years battling Lupus. In all of that time her uplifted spirits were tremendous. She didn't complain, took things one day at a time and was always in a sunshiny mood. I will miss you so much. I will miss our long telephone visits. They brought us closer together and made up for so much time lost in the past. I love you.
May you rest in peace.

In the short period of time that I knew Joan, I considered her a friend. She was always a beacon of light whenever I spoke with her. She shared her battle of Lupus and other illnesses but she never once complained. I admired her bravado dealing with her health issues. Joan was generous and supportive of the St. James AMEZ Church Girl Scout troop whenever it was cookie sale season. She was small and petite in stature with the spirit and strength of an Angel. I will miss you Joan. You were a blessing in my life.
